Please install from a computer
You are on a phone or tablet. Buying there is fine, but installing happens on a computer: phone browsers cannot talk to a StickS3 over USB. Send this page's link to your computer and open it in Chrome or Edge. You can check your activation code below in the meantime.

This link contains your activation code. Send it only to yourself (to your own computer, say), never to a group, a comment or a post — an unused code belongs to whoever uses it first.

Checking does not use up the code. The code is bound to a device only at the end, after you have seen that device's ID and pressed Confirm.
Connect your StickS3
- Plug the StickS3 into this computer with a USB-C cable that carries data, and switch it on.
- Press Connect device below; the browser opens a list.
- Pick the device in the list (its name usually contains USB JTAG/serial debug unit or USB), then press Connect.
Has this StickS3 never had NiuMagotchi on it?
It did not answer like NiuMagotchi
The device is connected but did not answer our hello. The usual reason: this StickS3 still runs its factory program, or something else — that needs a fresh install. It may also be running NiuMagotchi and simply be asleep.
Not sure? Look at the screen: if a little employee is sitting at his desk, it is running NiuMagotchi.
Fresh install
A fresh install erases every program and all data on this StickS3, including its factory program and anything else you installed. If there is something on it you want to keep, back it up with the tools you used before. To go back to the factory program later, reinstall it with M5Stack's official flashing tool.
First, put it in download mode
- Plug the StickS3 into the computer with the cable.
- Hold the power button on its side for about 6 seconds, then let go.
- The screen stays dark. That is right: it is waiting to be installed. (On some units a green light inside blinks.)
- Tick the confirmation below, press Start install, and pick USB JTAG/serial debug unit in the list that opens.
Empty list? Hold the power button for 6 seconds once more, or try another cable. Installing takes a minute or two; keep the cable in throughout.

Once you confirm, this activation code belongs to the StickS3 above. Reinstalling, updating and restoring the license on that same device are free from then on; you never buy again.

The license backup works only for this device. Keep it with your activation code: if the device is ever wiped completely, it puts the seal back without the internet.
No new backup file this time. If you do not have this device's backup, run onboarding once more with the code that first sealed it, and you can download it again.

The steps as text
- Enter the activation code and press Check. Checking does not use it up.
- Plug in the StickS3 with a data cable, press Connect device and pick it in the list.
- If it runs an older NiuMagotchi, the page first updates it to the newest version, keeping your employee and save. If it has never had NiuMagotchi (a factory unit, say), follow the steps below to put it into download mode for a fresh install.
- The page shows this device's ID. If it is your device, press Confirm and apply the seal.
- When you see the seal is on, you are done. Download the license backup and keep it with your code.
